| Impact, actions & engagements remarquables | | | Lotus Foods is a rice-importing company established in 1995. Its focus on fair prices for farmers and sustainable growing methods has helped to shape awareness of social and environmental issues associated with rice production. In 2008, it committed to creating Fair Trade supply chains with farmers using the System of Rice Intensification (SRI). Lotus Foods identified Bloom Agro as the private sector partner. Bloom Agro was then the first partner to achieve Fair for Life certification. In Indonesia, Bloom Agro is a social enterprise helping small scale farmers grow organic products and improve the lives of farmers and their families, while also reducing water use, eliminating toxic agrochemicals, protecting natural habitats, and reducing methane emissions from paddies. Bloom Agro’s Fair Trade activities focus on building better facilities for the farmers and communities. Lotus Foods and Bloom Agro have worked together for 10 years and look forward to a continued partnership. | ||||
