Certification for fair trade and responsible supply chains |
Impact, special achievements & commitments | Founded in 2001, COOPERACRE was created from the collective effort of three cooperatives. Nowadays, COOPERACRE gathers 32 Cooperatives and Associations spread in 14 of the 22 municipalities of Acre, working directly with more than 2.000 families of extractivists and small farmers. COOPERACRE’s mission is to develop and enhance agroforestry activities while respecting the three pillars of sustainability: environmental, economic, and social. Although COOPERACRE’s main business is the Brazilian nut, the cooperative also commercializes natural rubber and fruit pulps. COOPERACRE is one of the few companies in the region that has always stood up for the sustainable development aligned with the preservation of natural diversity and cultural history of the Amazon rainforest. In 2019, supported by VEJA - a French footwear company – COOPEACRE took the bold step and applied to Fair for Life certification in order to improve the quality of life of the rubber tappers and the protection of the Amazon forest. | |||||||
