Certification for fair trade and responsible supply chains
Impact, special achievements & commitmentsAltia is a leading Nordic alcoholic beverage brand company operating in the wines and spirits markets in the Nordic countries, Estonia and Latvia. We produce, import, market, sell and distribute both own and partner brand beverages. We also have production in Cognac, France.
In Altia we have crystallized our purpose as a company: Let’s Drink Better. Altia’s product development always holds in mind the Let’s Drink Better angle: Will the new product offer consumers a more environmentally friendly option or an option that brings benefits to the producer’s community? Is the drink organically produced, do the ingredients come from close or is the product maybe 100% domestic?
Altia’s responsibility work is guided by four responsibility cornerstones: Altia & Customers, Altia & Society, Altia & Environment and Altia & Employees. Altia is committed to respecting and promoting human rights and international labour standards in accordance with the United Nation's (UN) Universal Declaration on Human Rights and the most central agreements of the International Labour Organization (ILO). Altia also expects the same from its suppliers, partners and subcontractors. Altia works within the framework of the amfori BSCI initiative as well as together with our customers and stakeholders to advance these objectives.
Organic and ethically certified products are of high importance and one key aspect of Altia Corporate Responsibility and the responsibility cornerstone of Altia & Customers. The Rajamäki bottling plant received permission to start bottling Fairtrade products in 2015 and Fair for Life products in 2018. Also Altia sales and marketing offices in Finland and in Sweden as well as Altia’s Brunna Logistics Centre in Sweden have been certified for Fair for Life.
The criteria of ethical certifications, the Fairtrade and Fair for Life, set requirements for all operators in Altia supply chain of the Fairtrade product. All companies involved in the supply chain are certified, all the way from the vineyards to the packaging of the finished product. Meeting the Fairtrade and Fair for Life criteria and the traceability of the wine throughout the supply chain is monitored by the certification bodies. Altia wants to contribute to the aim of reducing poverty, enhancing the wellbeing and ensuring the ethical behavior through Fair Trade and understands that this requires the contribution of all parties involved.
