Certification for fair trade and responsible supply chains
Impact, special achievements & commitmentsIn 2002 Fairfield Organics, originally under the name Heavenly Organics, started business with the intention to increase income of people in India's tribal regions by sourcing honey a traditional, sustainable way. The Indian born CEO of the company and his father trained the traditional method of harvesting honey from hives that increased yield without negatively impacting the bees and their natural production of honey. The company has expanded into other honey producing areas in northern India as well as creating a market demand for sugar grown and processed by small farmers in India. The principles of fair trade have existed in the trade since the inception of the company and now bee harvesters. As an employer in the US, Fairfield Organics is a small company that provides fair wages and benefits including nine paid holidays, sick days, vacation and health reimbursement plans to all employees. The principles of fair trade and good employment practices are integrated within the culture of the company.
